Arc Is Sunsetting. What That Means for Burly.

Burly will keep its existing Arc integration. If you can still use Arc after its shutdown, we intend to keep handing your links to it, with minor maintenance where practical. That does not mean major fixes or new Arc-specific features.

Matt Senter is an independent Mac developer who designs, builds, and ships small native apps end to end. He built Burly to send every link on his own Mac to the right browser profile, including Safari profiles that other routers cannot reach, and he writes these pages from that first-hand use.

What Arc has announced

In its farewell announcement, The Browser Company says Arc for macOS and Windows will stop working on December 22, 2026. New accounts closed on October 22, and existing users will receive basic updates until the shutdown. The company is focusing on Dia.

This is more than the end of feature development. Arc says desktop access will end. We cannot promise that any particular installation will remain usable afterward.

What Burly will keep supporting

Burly already detects Arc and sends links to its current profile. It also helps with Arc’s tendency to drop a link when no browser window is open: with Accessibility permission, Burly waits for a window before handing the link over. Arc does not let Burly select a named profile; see supported browsers for the details.

We are not planning to remove that integration just because Arc’s official support ends. If anyone is able to keep using Arc, Burly’s existing support will remain available, with minor maintenance if needed and practical. We are not committing to major compatibility repairs, new Arc features, or keeping Arc itself running. Burly cannot restore Arc accounts or replace browser security updates.

Before December 22

Export your data or move it to another browser before the deadline. Arc’s announcement explains its export options and migration to Dia. Burly can stay part of your workflow as you switch: choose another installed browser in the browser picker. Dia is also supported as a current-profile destination.

If you keep using Arc and hit a Burly routing problem, let us know through the community. We can assess whether a small maintenance fix is practical. The aim is to preserve a useful connection for as long as it remains workable.
