Introducing Burly Supporters: Hide Promos and Get Real Help for $1.99

Burly has been free since the first build, and it is staying free. Every feature, every supported browser, Safari profiles included, no account, no trial, no time limit. That does not change today.

What is new is a way for the people who use it every day to chip in, and to turn off the small promotions the picker has shown since 1.2.0: Burly 1.4.0 introduces the Supporter program.

What are the promotions in the picker?

Since Burly 1.2.0, every so often when the picker opens, one of its petals is a small promotion, usually for one of my other apps, sometimes for the Supporter license itself. It sits alongside your profiles rather than in front of them, it never delays the link you clicked, and you can ignore it and pick a profile exactly as before. Most picker opens show nothing extra at all, and you will not see a promotion twice in a row.

There is no tracking behind it. Burly decides whether to show one entirely on your Mac, from a random roll, with no network call, no profile of what you browse, and no targeting of any kind. It knows nothing about the links you click beyond what it always needed to know: where you want them to open.

What do Supporters get?

A Supporter license is one $1.99 payment. Not a subscription, not a yearly renewal: you pay once and you are never charged again. In return:

1. The picker never shows promotions again. Every petal is one of your profiles.
2. You can reach me directly through Contact Support for bug reports, purchase questions, feature requests, or anything else.
3. You keep every feature, same as everyone else. Nothing is held back from the free version, and nothing ever will be.

How does paid support work?

The support page is how Supporters get help from me directly. Write your message, enter the email address you paid with, and I email you a short code. Enter the code and the message is sent. That one step confirms you are a Supporter without asking you to sign in or create an account, and it keeps the inbox clear enough that I can actually answer what arrives.

Everyone, Supporter or not, can still find answers in Help and talk with other Burly users in the community.

How do you become a Supporter?

Supporter licenses need Burly 1.4.0 or later. If you are not there yet, click the Burly menu bar icon and choose Check for Updates. Then:

1. Click Hide promos on any promotion in the picker, or choose Become a Supporter from the Burly menu bar icon, or use the Upgrade button on the pricing page.
2. Pay $1.99 through Stripe. Burly never sees your card details.
3. Click Activate on the confirmation page. Burly opens with promotions already turned off.
4. If the Activate button does not open Burly, copy the license token from that page and paste it into Burly Settings, under Supporter.

Reinstalled Burly or moved to a new Mac? Restore your license with the email you paid with, and it comes right back.

Why $1.99?

Because Burly is a small utility that does one job, and the price should feel like it. I would rather a lot of people find it an easy yes than have a few people weigh it like a purchase decision. If Burly saves you the copy, switch window, paste dance a few times a day, it has probably paid for itself by lunch.

And if you never want to pay, that is fine too. The free version is the whole app, and it will keep getting updates either way. Thank you for using it, and thank you, in advance, to everyone who becomes a Supporter.
